I think there's probably a LOT of reasons. He got "burned" pretty badly in 2000- & after that demoralizing experience, I think ANYONE would think "twice" about going through that- again. I'll bet he really LIKES some of the candidates that are running this time (like Clinton & Obama), so he might not feel the pressing "need" to run- if they're going to do just as good a job as he would anyway. I believe he feels he's found something he feels "passionate" about now- dealing with environmental issues. So all in all, you can't blame the guy for taking a "pass" on the job. .... And that's too bad... Because I think if he ran, he'd win, and be a good president... So maybe when Gore lost the Election in 2000- HE didn't. We DID. :(

Gore is to the environment what Carter was to the Peace process. Gore needs to focus on championing the environment, after all, You want a president to be an all encompassing person, and right now the environment is too important to have someone that can only be a part time spokesman..

In an interview he stated that he felt his work with Global Warming was the most important thing to him in his life right now. He would rather help save the world's environment for future generations than be President of the US.

"Gore is to the environment what Carter was to the Peace process."

I love that!!! Carter and the Peace process! We all know how well that turned out!!!! Hilarious!!!

A corollary analogy is:

Carter was to the Peace process what Al Gore was to the internet.

He already lost once, why try a second time? But why not? It worked for Nixon, but well that didn't turn out too well.....

I think he knows he can't win with Hilary Clinton & Barack Obama running....he'd be wasting his money & his time.

He's more interested in the money he can make with his CO2 scare tactics. His dirt has already been aired so he probably figures he doesn't have a good shot at elected office again.

Maybe the fact that even when he wins he can't win has made him reconsider?
