No, they are not waterproof. You just happened to get lucky. I can't even begin to tell you how many people I've seen post here that they washed their iPod and it wouldn't work anymore. Be sure to check your pockets from now on, as you may not be so lucky next time.

i doubt it since you can buy waterproof cases and stuff so the nano itself must not be waterproof. but since water is not all that of a good conductor it should not have fried the circuits and stuffs in the nano. I am sure however that if you put the nano in a bucket full of water for more than a couple days it might not work, ever. So i guess you can say that you are lucky cause it dried.

That's probable because you got very lucky.
No iPods are made waterproof, however they do have waterproof cases for them.
In your case, the water probably dried out and didn't get into any places where it shouldn't be. IDK how the water got to your battery cause if it did, then you would've been screwed.
