Are you really in that bad a shape? If so, bankruptcy may be an option. To be avoided if possible though.

Have you tried to work out a plan or are you just trying to avoid the bill collector? I know you don't want to hear this but your legal options include paying your debt!

Legally, from what I've been told, they must call at reasonable hours. Are they calling every couple of hours because you won't talk to them?

I can understand that you are stressed out but you do have a debt and you must be responsible for your obligations. Sorry but that is the law!

Pay your bill, don't listen to what the others are saying by filing bankruptcy. If it is the same bill collector, this is harassment. But take my advice and pay your bill.

Tell the caller to put you on the "do not call" list.
If they persist, report them to your state regulators.
Or, you can just say "Oh, hold on", set the phone down and walk away. After a few dozen times, they give up.

not sure if this still applies... but I know that if you sent a bill collector $5.00 per month... and they rejected it... the debt was cancelled.... because they refused American currency. Also, you can ask them to not call you again... write down the date and time that you say this... if they call you again, you can file suit against the company.

Legally, your answer is bankruptcy. More reasonable, contact your local credit counselor. They can help stop the calls.

That is harassment, pure and simple. Tell them you want the callers name and that the next time you hear from them you will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and filing a complaint as well as filing a complaint with the telephone company. Ask to speak to the caller's SUPERVISOR then ask to speak to HIS/HER supervisor.

Next time he calls, blow a whistle in the phone.

Get an air horn and when they call, blow their eardrums off, and if they complain, just say you passed gas and apologize,,,,
