like if i went to a college that only offered a bachelor degree in a field can i get it there or would i have to go to another college with an associates degree first

You can skip the Associates and go straight to Bachelors.

I never got an associates degree, and I have two bachelor degrees and a masters. So no. You don't need an associates first. If you are getting a bachelors degree, then there is really no need to get the associates degree, unless you intend to use the associates to get a job while working on the bachelors.

You do not have to get an associates degree first.

But it might not hurt to start in a community college if the costs of college are a concern to your family. They are generally about 1/2 to 2/3 the cost of a 4 year public school. (Or you don't actually know for sure what you want to study.)

no, you do not need an associates before you get your bachelors. in fact, an associates degree is a waste of time.
