For any Beatles fans you would know the while rumor thing about the song Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds. If you haven't many people believe that John Lennon wrote this song about LSD. L=Lucy S=Sky D=Diamonds which spells out LSD. In interviews and when asked about it John Lennon said that it was wrote about a picture that Julian had drawn in school for John. The picture was of Julian's friend who's name was Lucy. She was in the sky with diamonds. Which do you believe?

I have this book about John Lennon and it does actually have the picture made by Julian and i do agree that John would lie about his family but everybody knows that all of them did LSD at the time. So its actually hard to say which one is true because we have evidence of both tales. Keep on coming with the feedback though!=)

Probably a little of both. The media obvously loved to hype up the drug use, but it's no secret that from Help onward, the Beatles were doing drugs all the time. As for the picture story, it is at least mostly true. The picture exists; it's in many books about the Beatles. John may have been or probably was high when he wrote the song, but it was inspired by the picture.
Besides, if anyone was trippin', it was his son who drew the girl floating in the sky with diamonds.

I'd go for Yellow Submarine by The Beatles. If Lucy was not a drug song (actually I think it was - it's just that Lennon's inspiration came from his son's drawing) then Submarine surely is. And yet it has become a childrens' favourite!!!

Most songs are not about what they seem. A lot are talking about something else. So, yes, I believe it was about LSD....not a girl named Lucy who was up in the sky with diamonds!! Ha ha!

It's pretty well known that the beatles were doing LSD around that time. And, if you think about it, he can't say "It's a secret reference to LSD", because then it's not a secret reference to LSD anymore.
But I'm too young to count as a Beatles fan so maybe I should shut up.

Nope not true.......
Lucy In The Sky with Diamonds (LSD) stands for a famous road in Chicago that rums along the lakefront called LAke Shore Drive.
When they Beatles came to Chicago, they fell in love with the road and wrote a song about it.
Just kidding, I think it about LSD

I believe John Lennon. Do you remember Peter Paul and Mary and "Puff the Magic Dragon?" It was a perfectly innocent song, but several years after it was recorded, marijuana became a big fad and people started saying the song was about pot. God knows what people may start saying about "Here Comes Santa Claus."

I believe John's version.
People were looking for things that weren't there in those days.
Remember playing a record backward for a message and the whole "Paul is dead" hoax?
there was even a brouhaha over a children's song that Paul wrote for Ringo to sing: Yellow Submarine

it's really hard to say. everyone knew that the beatles dabbled in LSD and other drugs, but no one could prove it. john was pretty outspoken and though i don't think he'd admit to drugs, i don't think he'd ever lie about his family.
