Fathers are expected to be better workers than non-fathers because they have a family to provide for. The opposite is true for mothers because they're expected to take off more. They're stereotypes and not really something to judge by, but there's a lot of truth to them too. You can put it off on fathers all you want, and while they deserve their share of the blame, a lot of mothers WANT to be the main caretakers because, quite simply, I don't think a lot of women really trust men with it. I actually don't question the results, but I do question the method of the study. It seems pretty simplistic and not really a good way to conduct a study. That said, I don't think the overall results would be that different from a better study, though the idea mothers never get hired is, to put it bluntly, stupid. Any fool can look around and see that's false. I'm not really a big fan of these stereotypes, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't know they were there and even if I said I didn't entirely understand where they come from.
