I am about to become a PSW and I don't know if I can handle seeing older people being mistreated. Anyone work in a long term home? what are they like? psw is a personal support worker.

I love that you ask this question it shows you must be a very caring individual, yes unfortunately abuse goes on and should always be reported even if you don't want your identity known, but for the most homes are under staffed and low pay shows what thegoverment thinks of our elderly but its better than years ago with people who have a heart like you it will get even better. Good Luck

It happens in many homes....and most times "not all" the attitude of the support takes there lead from the administrator......if he/she is doing there job properly staff would try mistreatment....
