I will go for Manchester, not only safe, convenient and in good invironment, but also its one of the top league in the UK.Their Linguistics Dept. is quite good.

Reading will be my second best, because in addition to what I have said about Manchester, their Linguistics Dept. is among the top in the country. Its also near London, so its easy to drop to London during the week end and coming back to Reading within just few minutes.

All the best!/

Lancaster is set in a lovely place but the campus is a little distacne from the town itself, so if living on campus you may feel a bit isolated, but if living in town the travel may become a hassle.

Don't know about the others, sorry!
