Never should they censor the news media, except. unless it is reveling war time secrets that the enemy can use to hurt our people in some way.other wise we should have a revolution before we allow the feds to TELL the media what and when and how to do a darn thing, period.WE the people have a right and an need to know all the truth, even if it hurts.as its us that's supposed to control & guide this country .not JUST the feds.
But of course they will do what they want to .like bush has forsaken so many rights we had.

In war-time, the media has an obligation to censor itself in that it does not reveal crucial information. Here is a Civil War general's take on it:
"I hate newspapermen. They come into camp and pick up their camp rumors and print them as facts. I regard them as spies which, in truth, they are. If I hanged them all, there would be news from Hell before breakfast."

William Tecumseh Sherman

During peace time, never.

At NO time; no way, no how.

And, of course, who would have the (dis)honor of performing the censoring?

There are some very specific, significant exceptions. It would be just heinous for someone to publicize sensitive military information, but in all other common applications, freedom of speech means just that.

Of course, the factual accuracy of that speech is another issue; that's called integrity in journalism.

During Wat there is not Enough, censorship, I am really surprised the U.S. hasn't had deadly attacks, with the news pin pointing certain areas that could be devastating. During peacetime, they are busy, keeping the blacks and whites at war. Go Figure.
And they said Japan, China and Germany has Propaganda, what about us?
