It sounds like it wants to start but I have to stop trying to start the car and then try again. When I do this it will start up. It doesn't sound like the engine is trying to start but something else. Not car savy can you tell? The engine doesn't seem to be wanting to turn over until the second try. Then it seems like something ignites in the engine and it will start. I did recently have a new battery put in the car. Plus I just came home through a bunch of rain to weather that is below freezing temperatures. Can anyone help? Thank you.

I am from Minnesota so I know about cold.

To get it started right now you can use a treble light. Leave it there for a while as long as about an hour or so.

What you need is a block heater especially if you want the car to last and you know that you will be enduring winters to come.
all you do is plug it in at night and the next morning it starts up just fine even in 30 below!

If you want a cheaper way of doing things I believe there is a dip stick that is heated and you just slip it into your oil and it heats up...sorry I dont know much about this but my father in law used one and it works great.

One other option is that there is a pad kinda like a heating pad for your oil pan that is really great too.

Your focus is on heating the oil so the engine will turn over. Maybe an oil change is necessary but even new oil in freezing cold may not start up.

Good Luck!

you should really be gratefull it starts at all , in cold weather keep your tank full , add some gas line antifreeze , and change your oil to 5w 30 , if you have a block heater use it , if not get one that sticks on the oil pan , make certain your antifreeze is good to -40 , good luck
