I never have had a big appetite but have always been a healthy eater. I had no morning sickness the first trimester but had food adversions that kept my diet pretty limited. Now I eat and 30 minutes later I am hungry again! What has been your experience? I have only gained 3 pounds so I am thinking the baby is burning through the food I eat!

Congratulation! If you can eat well during your pregnancy, then you should enjoy it. Most important, eat really healthy food. Don't have to eat double! Try to eat not too much, but many times small meals. Eat fruits in between & drink at least 3 lt. a day! It's good for your baby!
I envy you, I couldn't eat at all the whole 5-6 months; I kept vomitting & totally lost appetite once I ate a bit, although I always felt hungry & wished to eat this and that, but I couldn't :(
So if you have this luck, then both of you mom & baby should take this advantage! But of course avoid those junk foods! Once a while is fine, but not all the time!
About the weight, it's normal, wait until on the 8th month, you should gain more.

Increased hunger occurs often with pregnancy. As another answer mentioned, be sure to choose healthy snacks. Although it is a common expression, you are not eating for two, you are eating for 1 and 1/8 so an extra 500 calories is sufficient. You also need to make sure to drink adequate amounts of water to stay hydrated and keep your circulating volume up. Often thirst manifests itself as feeling hungry so remember to keep that water handy throughout the day and eat small meals every few hours. This will help control nausea as well if you have any.

If you have only gained 3 pounds, talk to your doctor. Depending on your weigh this might be okay or they may suggest you talk to a dietitian to plan some meals that meet your dietary requirements as well as any food aversions. Most of the weigh gain is in the third trimester through so it is not a big concern at this point.

Good Luck and Congratulations

Yeah its normal lol! I'm on my last month and still feel that way. I have always had a good, healthy appetite as well but never have I ate as much as I do now. I haven't gained much weight either (about 20 lbs altogether with only a few more weeks to go). Try to keep a healthy diet going though, it will really help you and your baby throughout your pregnancy.

my wife eats about 6-8 SMALL meals a day and is very careful what she is eating. Go easy on salty things and try not to eat super fattening things all of the time. You'll be fine....Also she breastfed our oldest and her pregnancy weight gain just seemed to fall off. She didn't go to a gym and lost 15 pounds more than she was before the pregnancy.

Because I had a rough 1st trimester and lost close to 10 lbs in the first 3 months, my body definately compensated in the 2nd trimester and I was always starving. It is fine as long as your doc approves of your weight progression. I found it was helpful to carry around string cheese and fruit so that I could snack whenever the urge struck. Best wishes - your little guy or gal is growing fast. :)

After I had 5 months of morning sickness with my son.......I ate everything I could. I just couldn't be around garlic and coffee. The whole time I was sick I lost 12lbs and by the end I had gained it back, but that's all I gained the whole time. My doctor told me it was normal to feel hungry all the time. I just started to drink lots of water and that helped me not eat so much.

Very normal. I was the same way (after the morning sickness passed) What helped me is i ate a bunch of small little snacks all day. That way i didn't feel like i was gorging and i didn't have to wait to get hungry.

it may well be twins. yet I study that typically you've a tendency to carry extra weight, or tutor extra at the same time as this isn't your first infant. highly because your belly muscular tissues are not as solid and in structure as they were the first time. do not worry about being something incorrect with you. That individual that wrote that remark is ignorant! If the physician considered you and did not say something about there being something incorrect, then do not worry. you're advantageous!! :O)
