Just a quick example. Working stiff, buddy wants to paint and do small plumbing jobs for a slum-lord in town. Just handy-man work. Basic stuff. Slum-lord, won't put him on the payroll because the guy is not licensed, certified, and or carry workmans comp insurance. C,mon, it freaking painting and clean-up work... Well, look around at all the guys, collecting SSI nowadays. Heres your reason: LAWYERS and LEGALITIES! No common sense in law!

First of all, I find it hard to believe that your "slum-lord" would not hire someone on the cheap just because of a lack of licensing. Isn't the goal of a "slum-lord" to make as much profit with as little work/effort as possible?

Secondly, as someone about to begin law school, I take personal offense to the gross generalization that all lawyers have ruined America. America was founded by lawyers. Granted there are some, as with any profession, that are out to make a quick buck and don't care who they take down in the process. My intentions in this profession, however, are to IMPROVE our society and make it a safer and more stable environment for our children and grandchildren, yours included.

The two biggest enemies to a better society are lawyers and journalists.

Both of them used to have more lofty principles. Nowadays lawyers are untrustworthy and greedy while journalists would sell their grandmother just to make a name for themselves with one big story.

The biggest culprits are the lawyers at the ACLU. To quote Steve Elliott: "the ACLU is destroying America's fabric by
pushing a radical agenda that supports polygamy,
child pornography, infanticide, gun control and more.

Though they claim to be great defenders of liberty,
they are defending terrorists, molesters and murderers
while attacking honest, hard-working, principled Americans."

The reason we all complain about the lack of really good Presidential candidates is that the best people will not run. They refuse to have their lives put under a microscope, and be smeared by lies and innuendo.

We should return to the days of JFK, when the press showed some common sense and restraint. They didn't publish articles about his infidelities with Marilyn Monroe and others. Can you imagine if they had done this during the Cuban Missile Crisis? JFK would have been so distracted with legal headaches that he might have taken a very different course of action that ended in disaster.

So to all the rotten lawyers out there, and all your journalists who have no sense of propriety or ethics, when you see society disintigrating, remember a huge part of that blame goes straight at you.

~Uh oh, you didn't get that paint job, so now you're slamming American Lawyers?.. lol You are so pathetic. We have laws here in America and you aren't an American, so you don't understand them, you just critisize them.
There are people collecting SSI because they are handicapped or disabled in one way or another. I know you'll hate to hear this, since you aren't an American, but even some of our Soldiers collect S.S.
Lawyers didn't ruin America, America isn't in ruins, we are strong and you can't stand it.~ hahahahaa

Well, lots of people still hire unlicensed handymen. I, for example, do.

Now, apart from the lawyers like Thomas Jefferson who laid the foundation for our nation, and lawyers like Thurgood Marshall who expanded the freedoms of our country, and lawyers like Ralph Nader who forced manufacturers to make cars that don't kill people standing still, what lawyers have ruined America?

Lawyers don't make laws. Your state representatives and senators make this type of law. They don't have to be lawyers to hold these positions. You, yes you, elect them. Get involved in politics more. You could be one these law makers one day. You don't even have to graduate from high school.

Lawyers are people who are hired to argue for people or the state or whoever hires them. Look to the people who hire them.
