My good friend is on a school basketball team. She's also very good, she's not playing cause a friend is...she's playing cause she means it and loves the game. Anyway, Her dad wants her to quit cause she's "better at dancing". She's upset because she doesn't want to quit and know she knows that her dad wants her to. What do I say, how can I help?

Tell her that she needs to follow her dreams and not her dads. When she was younger I am sure her dad told her to follow her dreams. Just because her dad thinks that she is better at dancing, which may be the case, her heart is in basketball. She can make something out of both. If she really LOVES b.ball then tell your friend to stick to it and keep it up. She needs to have a heart to heart talk with her dad and let him know how she feels inside. It's not like she it out selling drugs. GOOD LUCK.

She should tell her dad she enjoys playing basketball more than dancing

This has also got to be the only dad who prefers dance to sports

Maybe you and your friend can try to convince her dad how much the game means to her or convince him to go to a game to see her play (that is if he hasn't already).

do nothing its between your friend and her father.

all you can say is tell for her to tell her father what she really wants to do. Dancing is year round and basketball is just a winter sport.
