Definitely one of the greatest. He is a great all-around player. His defense is underrated and he doesn't choke. He has improved his game by leaps and bounds every year. He was never asked to improve defensively under Don Nelson. Who knows what kind of player Dirk would be if he was coached by Avery his whole career?

I believe it was his play at the end of regulation in game 7 against the San Antonio Spurs that put them in the next round. I believe it was his 50 points that single handedly carried the Mavs to a victory against the Phoenix Suns. He hit the game winning shot in game four against the Memphis Grizzlies.

His averages in February:
26.5 pts, 4.3 asts, 8.8 reb, 1.17 blocks, 1.83 steals and oh yeah, shooting 53.45 percent from the field, .444 from three-point land,
and 87.10 from the FT line.

I'm sorry Miami didn't play anyone in the East, therefore they were well rested while Dallas had to battle throught the West. I'm tired of people claiming that Wade lifted his game while Dirk struggled. Wade AVERAGED 19 FT's per game from games three through six.

Not until he...

A. Leads his team to a championship

B. Gets the League MVP

Barkley and Malone never got a ring, but both won MVPs. Otherwise, he'll have to wait until the end of his career for the solidification of his spot.

trouble with that is he doesn't have 8 3/5 more seasons left at 28 years old and only a few more at a top level

and no he's not one of the all time greats

I think Dirk is really talented, but you just can't put Michael Jordan and Dirk in the same sentence. So no he isn't the greatest. Maybe when he wins a championship then people will start to notice him, but till then.........

Yes he is. i seriously thought that team would fall apart when Antwaan Jamison, Michael Finley and Steve Nash left but Dirk is leading this new team and he will get some rings before he is done. He is one of the most unstoppable scorers with his height and shooting ability.

kobe is the best of the best what in the hell are you talking about? kobe bryant can kiss my ***. dirk is definetelly in the top 5 forwards of all time w/o a doubt. his all around play is amazing and his ability to shoot the 3 is incredible. he is one of the best euros to ever come over. i mean he is 7'0 and can shoot the 3 better than most guards. i dont care what anyone else says about him of not being able to carry his team but thats not the kind of player he is. he is a team player and will surpass at least two more players on the all-time scoring list.

Not really it's basically his teammates that are helping him. Without them he'd be nothing. Don't get me wrong! Dirk is the best big man shooter of maybe all-time! but what counts is who he's had as his teammates. like Nash, Terry, Stackhouse, and so on.

Kobe is the best of the best, I got a question for you, have you ever tryed to name another 7 footer who can shoot threes, or has won the three-point contest. Btw, kobe is awesome too.

He is an extremely talented player, but he has yet to prove that he is great. He plays no defence and chokes in crunch time.
