This is absolutely linked to what you are eating/drinking. Perhaps you are watching what you eat too much? Some things that usually are the culprit are fruits and vegitables and coffee.

Plants are likely to cause the most gas (fruit and veggies) but don't cut them out, just watch the quantity.

He will grow out of it probably, but some people are just gassy. My 4 month old is only breast fed and he is very very gassy too, and crys alot at night. I use something called gripe water, its a more natural alternative to mycolin drops, although I do use and like the mycolin drops also. He will be fine, and should grow out of it soon!

My nursing son had the same problem. We tried mylicon drops, we did the burping thing, we laid him on his back, we laid him on his sides. Nothing seemed to help. Then after several weeks, and many, many tired nights, we got a book on infant massage. I guess we must have started it around 7 weeks old. What a lifesaver! There's a section on colic massage that helps the baby's digestion and moves gas through the body more easily. I have found, from talking to friends and through my own experience, that breastfed babies don't burp as well or strongly as formula babies. My son got to loving massage so much that as soon as he saw the bottle of lotion (before we put on jammies) he'd stretch out really long and grin! I didn't eat broccoli or real spicy foods when I was nursing and we also laid him down to sleep on his side or tummy and that seemed to help a lot. Good luck!

oh heavens!...my 1 month old is so gassy too! i stopped eating so many foods trying to figure out what it was, and still nothing. and it must hurt cuz he screams right before he passes. and boy does he go. i heard mylicon drops was the same effect as taking water. and they never helped my two older ones. sometimes i guess you just have to wait it out. try massaging the tummy in a circulat motion. it seems to relieve the baby somewhat. but that whole diet thing doesn't seem to be cutting it.

A lot of veggies cause gas, so even if you are not eating junk, or things like beans babies can still become gassy. Give him some infant gas drops and place a dry warm cloth on his tummy.

You should try baby massage. Get a book on it at the library or store and use baby oil to massage his tummy. Also make sure you burp him really well after each meal.
