Anyone familiar with any aspect of health care please help !! :)
I have to write a paper and do a presentation in my healthcare law class. I dont work in the healthcare field yet so Im not too familiar with laws or regulations. Can anyone give me topics that I can research ? I just have to find a law that pertains to the healthcare industry that needs to be changed to make healthcare better. There are really no limitations on topics, just has to apply to healthcare in some way. 10 points to most/best answers TY !!

Right now most health care plans will go to "arbitration" if the member gets a crappy doctor or care. Perhaps the laws need to be changed so that malpractice cases will go to regular court. In regular court, if the ruling is not favorable, the losing party can appeal. There is no appeal process in arbitration. Perhaps this will lead to much better care.

As a healthcare social worker, I would suggest researching Medicaid (or whatever your state assistance program is). It's coverage can be so limited or qualifications too strict for everyone to receive the same level of medical care.

Hi, here is a bombshell for you.We need to eliminate the 3rd party payment system. In other words the insured (patient) gets the payment not the health provider(doctor, hospital). Now that would make the system compete to get the patient(better service, better prices) in other words real competition in the real world. After all its your money you spend it where it's best for you.Check it out-this is hot!

The law that deals with prior authorization. Sometimes this law wastes critical time for the patient.
