I have always thought the first day of your missed period.

If you do not chart or monitor your fertility in any way, and you think you may have conceived, you should wait 19 days (or longer) after having sex to test. Why 19?! Sperm can live approximately 5 days in the proper environment; if the sperm managed to live until you popped an egg, the actual conception could have taken place several days after the sex act that got the sperm there. To make sure you're not testing too early, assume the sperm had very long lives (5 days is considered a very long sperm life) and that conception occurred then. Then allow 14 days for the embryo to implant and develop enough hCG to show up on a pregnancy test (96% of pregnant women will test positive by then.)

There are certain pregnancy tests that claim to be able to tell 5 days before you miss your period. It is NOT 100% though, and if you purchase one of these tests, it will tell you in the information packet. You can test the first day of your missed period, and most women will come up with a positive if they are indeed pregnant. Some won't. I didn't get a positive until a little over a week after I expected my period. It just depends on the level on HCG in the urine, and for some people it isn't strong enough to show up on a pregnancy test in early pregnancy. You can take an early test up to 5 days before your missed period but everyone is different. Some women take more time for the HCG to enter the urine. I have heard that you can have a blood test as early as 24 hours after implantation (6-8 days after conception) Good Luck!!

It really depends on the level of hcg in the urnie at the time of testing...there are tests that say you can use them 5 days before a missed period...you can get a false neg alot of the time.... so really taking a test the day of a missed period or anytime there after is always the best ! Good Luck~

I would have to say it depends on when implantation occurs I have had three pregnancies and all were different with one i found out 6 days before my period and the other the day of my period so if implantation occurs earlier then i would think you can find out earlier because the hcg would be stronger sooner!!!

From those irritating commercials, you can find out five days earlier than a missed period, so that would put it at a week before you get your period. But, if you read the fine print on the tv ad, you will see it says that it isn't 100%.

I did one the day I missed my period and it came back negative. Three days later I tested again and got a positive. I think it's different with everyone - depends on how much hormone is in your wee.

Mine said neg until i was 7 days late. It depends on the person and the hormone levels gie it another couple of days and repeat. If you are realy anxious go to the doctors and have them give you a blood test.
