A buddy of mine sent me some TV shows in various formats. I noticed some shows were recorded at higher volumes than others. I have no problems turning down the high volumes for some but the quiet ones are tougher to deal with. I tried adjusting all the volume switches but the sounds are still too low. Is there a software or a patch that would work with Windows Media Player to amplify sounds from a movie?

About the only thing you can do is to attach external speakers with a volume control and turn up the speakers. But there is a limit to how loud WMP can play things.

If you have a video editing program, you can probably use that to increase the audio levels on the files.
