yes-it helps keep in touch with friends who have moved
its good to ask questions about hw.sports activities etc
it keeps you from going over texts and minutes on your phone.

I like they are a great idea. They keep people in contact with other people, if you have a question you can get a faster answer than if you would email, and it helps people communicate on a different level, instead of face to face contact, it is another way to communicate in a more technological world.

I don't
1) It promotes bad spelling, grammar, and slang in teenagers.
2) It promotes the need to gossip
3) It promotes the further isolation of people. ie People talk on aim for hours and hours and never get face to face contact.
