This is not my homework! I was bored and was on the internet and happen to see the name of this movie, and I became very interested in it, especially all the remarks that ignorent people made on the movie here in Q&A. I am working towards my MS and I am very interested in how people judge without knowing the history. I have been trying to see where I can purchase the book or the movie.!

That is why I decided to come up with these questions I guess they were too hard that is why peeps are getting upset SORRY!

What could have been the strengths in this family?

How many types of child maltreatment and family violence occured?

How do you know or strongly believe these people have been maltreated?

What could have been 5 dynamics that are present for both adult and child victim?

Identify and discuss at least three effects this maltreatment can have on these two family members.

Sugar, don't bother with the movie. It really sucks. Stick only to the book,
1)strengths - ability to allow the matriarch to make all rules - and blindly follow them
2)I don't think there was sexual abuse, well except for the part where the older brother and sister fall in love and have sex, intimidation, murder
3)I read the book.
4)
5)if you want to know the effects, read the other books when you finish the first.

Ok, im not a book reader. I read lots of magazines, but im just not a book reader. But i admit i read that one years ago back in high school. Its a very good book, and the movie doesnt do it justice. Get the book and read it.
Its been so long, i dont know how well i can answer your questions.
The strengths of the family laid with the two oldest children-being strong, raising and caring for the younger brother and sister under such conditions as being locked away in a attic by their own mother.
The child maltreatment would be the mother locking the children away in a attic so that she could collect money - a fortune from her parents. The mother had locked the children away, told them at first it would only be for a few weeks, which turned out to be years. Her parents had disowned her after she got married. They only took her back in because they thought she never had children by the person she married. If i recall the youngest boy ends up getting sick, instead of the mom taking him to the hospital she lets him die there.

Really, i cant think of much more regarding it.
Have fun and get the book.
