hmmm....let's see. I've had jumper's knee for about 6 months now, and for the first few weeks i've been icing it and resting it a bit. Also, everything that involves explosive jumping movements with my left knee hurts like hell. 6 months......does anyone have any suggestions besides goin to the doctor because i'm planning to get it checked out AGAIN.

Ice and rest will help the inflammation and pain - treating the symptoms of jumper's knee. However, to stop it from reoccurring, you need to treat the cause. Either your orthopedic physician (if you have only seen your primary care physician - you need to see an orthopedist) or a physical therapist can help find the cause. It could be a biomechanical problem (flat feet, high arches, knock-knees, bow legs, knee hyperextension, etc), muscular imbalance (weak quadriceps, tight hamstrings, etc), or even another condition (radiculopathy from a low back problem).

Good luck.

definitely stop. ice and elevate the knee for pain. take ibuprofen for swelling. since you love sports, you have to get a consult with an orthopedic doc. knee damage is serious. i had knee pain ,and ended up on crutches before i could do anything about it. my visit to the ortho doc was the best thing i did. do light stretches if bearable.
