I'm looking for serious answers, I am truly puzzled by this. NOT because of any intolerance or hatred on my part, I believe we should all be free to be who we are. But, to me, the trans issue doesn't seem to be a sexual issue. And we know gay/les/bi folk are singled out because of their sexuality, not their gender.
Any serious answers? Please? This lez grrl would like to be informed.

Look at it this way: A transgendered person, like myself, is mentally a woman trapped in a man's body. As as a result no matter if we choose either a man or a woman as our partner we are, in one way or another, gay.

It's also worth to note that our society is still extremely repressed.

Liking a woman that used to be a man means you like men and OMG YOU ARE GAY!! (according to flawed logic)

Or the fact that they still might have privates from their past gender makes people think that sex with them is gay.

Transgens also commonly get dates in gay places because people there seem to be more understanding. If a trans were at a straight bar, got hit on by a homophobe, then said homophobe found out it was a trans (Therefore threatening their "secure" sexuality) then it would be beating time.

If only we could all grow up.

It is good in a way.
people like rupaul and dame edna will feel more accepted.
I have asked myself this question as well.
Not out of hatred or scorn but simply wondering why
I think it has been unnecessarily attached to our community by the straight populace. they don't know how or what to do with transexuals so they name them and shove them off to the side with no recognition or help. just simply labelled apart of the gay community so they can isolate us even more like what the north americans are doing to natives. It's so good to have the trans folk in our community though because they have alot to offer.
culturally. we have so much to learn from( MTF--FTM )
what about hermaphrodites where do they fit in....nowhere.
except in jakarta where eunics collect taxes.

"gay community" ability greater to me than only "people who're gay". it additionally incorporates the folk who're heavily in touch in our lives and invested in our well-being -- pals who stood by ability human beings while we've been popping out, PFLAG mothers, the celebs who love us, regardless of! Now being a transsexual does advise you're _necessarily_ component of the gay community by ability of any ability! yet, heavily, in case you have been a butch dyke who became into out in the community for 30 years till you recognize you're a guy and transition, so a techniques as i'm in touch you have served the reason and deserve the props! whether he's strait, if he desires to connect us in the delight parade, he's greater desirable than welcome!! by no ability all transsexuals transition out of gay/lesbian communities, and a super sort of are satisfied to go directly to strait communities after transition. yet many will continually have component of their heart in the community they have been a factor of for a super sort of years, and that they've executed greater of their pre-transition lives to strengthen the lives of the "gay community" than maximum human beings comprehend! Many usually proceed to combat on our behalf on an identical time as quickly as they are actually not gay themselves.

Because most heterosexuals won't accept any thing that's different and it's easier if they just group everything together.
I have wondered about this question before.
