Set up a "bucket trap" by getting a bucket (deep enough that a hamster couldn't get out of but not so deep that a hamster would get hurt falling in), and place a thick towel on the bottom. On top of the towel you place some really tasty treats such as a thin layer of peanut butter on a cracker, apple slices, and/or cheese (something the hamster will easily smell). Then, make some sort of ramp up the outside of the bucket using wood, a wire shelf, or books stacked to make a staircase. The idea is that the hamster will go up the ramp in search of the food and jump into the bucket to get it, but can't climb back out. I have never tried this personally but have heard it works; the trick is to make the treat so irresistible the hamster will be willing to jump in the bucket for it.

LOL soon enough you'll be a pro at this. My lovely " Grosse Toutoune" made it her life mission to escape. It gets easier when you find out her favorite spots. Don't bother during the day it'll sleep and not make a sound (which makes it almost impossible to find). Nighttime is the time to search. If you have no clue what room it may be in, leave a few seeds in the middle of each room. Make sure you count the seeds (to be able to know whether or not she's been snacking). This might narrow your search. Turn off anything that makes noise and try sitting quietly in each room for a few minutes and listen. It might seem tedious but this was the only way it worked for me. Once it's night, the little scamp wont be able to resist making noise. (chewing, rustling papers etc.) Good luck!!!!

If you want to find your hamster follow these easy steps:
1.get as many buckets as you can
2.put a bucket in each room with lots of bedding and treats or food inside.
3.build a ramp with anything so your hamster can get to the bucket.
4.every hour or so check every bucket for your hamster
5.As well leave the hamster cage door open because there cage is like our home, and eventually they will want to go home
hope this helps

That is so funny! (of course, now that you found him) because I used to have hamsters and mine would escape IN the ball. I could never find him! Once he even rolled down the basement stairs. Thank goodness he did not get hurt. Glad to hear you got the little guy back!!

Put some food in the middle of the floor, turn off the lights for a few minutes, turn the lights back on. He should come to the food.
I've done this before and it worked.

Put his cage in the middle of the floor and put his favorite treats in it. He will come to the cage looking for food and you can trap him inside or at least have the chance of finding out where he's hiding by following the trailing of bread crumbs. Don't leave food outside the cage because he'll just come and take it to his hidey hole and you'll never get him out.
