NO. The option should be offered, of course, but I am not in favor of compulsory foreign language study.

'Foreign' - hmmmmm. Is Spanish a 'foreign' language in the US?
I'd support learning Spanish if you are an English-speaking American; and learning English if you are a Spanish-speaking American. In Canada, both French and English are official languages (so neither is foreign) and all should be educated in both.
Regardless. There is nothing but good to gain from knowing any second or third languages!

YES, deffinitely, I think I learned more English in Latin class than I did the actual foreign language. Not only do you understand your own language better, but I realized how *stoopid* the English language really is. We are not accurate with expressing ourselves verbally, even if you are vocabularily well endowed. For example, 'love' in the Greek language has at least 3 different words depending on the relationship. Language is very important, it helps us communicate with others, it is necissary for life.

Of course. It's nice to learn about other languages, especially since many Americans want foreigners to learn English. We should return the favor.

I believe so, because it definately brings more of a diversity , and level of understanding to each of the individuals who are learning the language, which can benefit our world as a whole.

No student should be made to learn a foreign language. This should be an elective subject. If your forced to learn it you wont, if you want to learn it you will.

No, they should not. there is way to much...you could say...hatred in high schools and colleges nowadays that taking a certain language could mean...getting beat up at school...

plus, it is hard for some to learn other languages...physically. and mentally
