Yes, Voodoo is a religion. Many people follow it and believe in it. Which tells me that it is real. However, Christianity is not a religion. It is the honor and worship of Jesus Christ, God's word in the flesh. Jesus promotes love, freedom, salvaton and kindness. Not witchcraft which is harmful.

What you are talking about is Hoodoo. This type of magic uses poppets or as they are commonly called voodoo dolls to hurt or help someone. The poppets are not used the way Hollywood portrays though. Usually when pins are inserted into a poppet it is to actually heal the area of pain. It works really well when the appropriate herbs and oils are use in conjunction with the pins. This type of sympathetic magic has been around for ages and it continues today.

Voudoun is a legitimate religion in Africa and the Carribbean.

Most of what is called Voodoo is a caricature of that religion. There is far more to it than "the dolls," just as there is more to Christianity than "wine and wafers" (not a put-down, a comparison of simplifications).
