Gee, and I thought *I* was the only one that got confused about this!
If you have ever played PacMan, the signs work like PacMan: The mouth opens to eat the larger number or quantity. So, 3 > 2 and 2 < 3 mean the same thing, that 3 is greater than 2, or that 2 is less than 3.
The other memory aid is "less than points left", <
I prefer the first one because I can remember when PacMan was invented. Gee, am I *that* old?

The less than sign is <, the way to remember this is that it kinda looks like an L. L is for left (it points left) and L is for less. The greater than sign is >. It is the opposite of the less than sign. Its also good to remember that the arrow points to the smaller # and the big part that looks like pac-man's mouth is pointing to the bigger #(pac-man wants more to eat).

I remember that the larger end is facing the larger number, like 1<2. (One is less than two) and 3>2 (three is greater than 2). Hope that helps!
