I've installed a third hard drive, yet when I turn on my computer, it's not recognized. The jumper settings are set to slave. I thought that maybe my computer cannot have more than 4 IDEs taken up (DVD, master HD, slave HD, floppy)...so I disconnect my DVD and connected it to this third Hard Drive.... Still nothing. What could it be?

why don't you raid them together if you can. also, are you using new or used HDD. you may need to update the drivers or check the bios setting for this set-up. your system might not handle it. you may also need to flash the bios to support 3 drives. if you need 3 drives, why not get an external drive, say a 250-300gig one.

You need to get into your bios and config there. Shut down your computer and restart, then depends on your computer but most if you hit the delete key durring the start up it will take you to the bios, there you can tell your computer to look for new drives.

When everything is plugged in, do you hear the hard drive motor spinning? If not, it just might be dead. Also, make sure you have the latest version of your motherboard bios and etc.

.
Your HARD DRIVE needs to be on the "SYSTEM"
IDE ribbon connection.
You need to get a ribbon with 4 connectors.

Hi. I'm pretty sure that you can only have one MA and one SL on an IDE cable. Make it the MA on the DVD cable.
