It's probably "All I Have To Do Is Dream" by The Everly Brothers.
Dream.
Dream dream dream.
Dream.
Dream dream dream.
When I want you in my arms.
When I want you and all your charms.
Whenever I want you.
All I have to do is dream.
Dream dream dream.
When I feel blue in the night.
And I need you to hold me tight.
Whenever I want you.
All I have to do is dream.
I can make you mine.
Taste your lips of wine.
Any time, night or day.
Only trouble is, gee whiz.
I'm dreaming my life away.
I need you so that I could die.
I love you so and that is why.
Whenever I want you.
All I have to do is dream.
I can make you mine.
Taste your lips of wine.
Any time night or day.
Only trouble is, gee whiz.
I'm dreaming my life away.
I need you so that I could die.
I love you so and that is why.
Whenever I want you.
All I have to do is dream.
Dream dream dream.
Dream.
Dream dream dream.
Dream.
The Everly Bros version is the most famous and recorded in 1958 (released a year later.) Richard Chamberlain did a version of it in 1963.

It's one of the rare songs to spend multiple weeks at the top of the pop (5 weeks), country (3 weeks), and R&B charts (5 weeks)...talk about a crossover hit! (In 1958, BTW, although Orbison may have done a cover, or maybe you're thinking of Orbison's "In Dreams"--another great one!)...
