No wood can no longer be used for raft making by international aggreement. This has been done to try and save the rain forest.

Did you consider surfing, or a bodyboard? The American Boys' Handybook has a lot of kewl ideas. You could use scrap wood from a construction lot, but that wood has splinters and rusty nails.

Go to home depot and get starboard cut to fit never rot away again. The Achilles will be very unstable and flex to the point of dangers.

one of the most common and fastest is to two have two or 3 perpindicular pieces cross section the rest of the floor which should have no gaps, then just find a way to bind them together
