I'd think that the best one is the one that most of your family / friends use, so you can communicate with them. Aside from that, you can install all of them and try them out for yourself to see what you like about them. You may find that you like using more than one, and there is nothing wrong with that. Yahoo and AIM are the best. I use to like AIM over Yahoo but Yahoo has turned out even easier to use than AIM these days. Its really good for doing video chat.

Yahoo or Windows Live Messenger. the reason for those are that they have claener interfaces and both run more smooth than any other IM plus it's much easier to get find friends on either.

I personally think that Yahoo Messenger is better and easier to use, but more people have AIM. So, it really should depend on what your friends use. If they aren't on Yahoo then who will you talk to?

if you loking for most secure chat paltform , go strait to skype . it is well known not hacked massenger , you are safe and moor safe . but usig skype need at last 10 kb/s iternet bandwith. sound quality is very good , emoticons are very butifull . check it out !!!
