i am going through a period in my life that i am asking my self the same question. how do i feel better immediately? and i have realized that sometimes depending on what you are feeling bad about you just can't feel better immediately. you are mending emotionally and sometimes you have to heal to feel better. you should get better day by day. But once you mend you are so much stronger and happier. you just realize one day. WOW. I'm not sad anymore.
right now. i have realized that i feel a little better when i distract myself. like coming on here and answering peoples questions. I'm at work right now so it is easier for me when my phones are ringing a lot. when i get off of work i will prolly go see some of my friends and go home get my favorite pair of p.j.s and go back to my friends house and watch some good movies.
Personally my friends help me the most. to know that they are there for me and love me. make me know that i will be okay in the long run. and me having the knowledge that once i get through this i will be a better and stronger person makes me know that i am not going through this in vein!

I have to agree with turning up the music, their is this song, and it is called David by Nellie Mckay, and you can't listen to it without feeling good, or something that just boost you up.
Their are times your body and mind are saying they would just like to be quiet and rest, we just have so many things going on in our lives, and sometimes when I don't get enough sleep, I feel sad, but I think that is normal
Its too bad we all just can't scream when we are feeling blue, but then we would be locked up, so exercise or turn up the music.
Only problem is when I feel sad I have a tendency to turn on the
sad music which makes it worse, but if I can get a good cry out of it I feel better.

I know it is difficult, but I try to avoid using food in place of medicine (even though I do not recommend medicine anyway).
Fluoxetine (aka Prozac) has only created further problems for me - the side-effects are drastic when they do take place. It can increase suicidal thought in children and teenagers.
Since my body was addicted to it, I could not discontinue dosage so abruptly as I wanted. But, without thinking, I stopped anyway, and I paid dearly for it, indeed. My nerves were jumpy, at best, and I went back to being depressed after a bit, so it really didn't help me at all.
I shouldn't have taken it in the first place.
**Never listen to your psychologist!!**
But now I try to get out more. The sunlight is very calming to me.
It has a lavender-like effect.

When Im feeling like that I always try to look at the bright side of things. No matter how bad I think I have it,there are people far worse then me. I think of how I have three beautiful healthy children. There are so many sad stories of sick children dying and with all kinds of diseases.

Just imagine that you live really really good, healthy and that it can always be better but it could be really worse aswell. There are people arround the world that are suffering, and getting killed and that they dont have any thing or any one to rellay on. Give thanks for what you have and your family and because every new day is filled with plenty of oportunities...Put on a song that you like all the volume up, and sing it that will make you happy.

I think about something funny or good or happy. I try to be optimistic, to try to see the other side of things. I self coach myself to turn my negative thoughts into positive ones. I may not believe in consiences, but I do coach myself when going a little too far in my thoughts.

First off, it's important that I know the feeling will pass and it's only temporary. But I usually listen to music that fits the mood. Maybe go for a walk. Basically be myself with my thoughts for a while.

I listen to upbeat music to lift my mood. Music that makes me want to dance! I get rid of negative thoughts by thinking that we are only here once, that Im young and when Im older I will regret worrying about things that I cant change.

I take a deep breath and I think about the good things in my life and the people who love me. For example, I had a fall out with my cousin who was like my best friend. So we got into a huge argument, I was feeling soooo sad, but then I was thinking about other people in my family who care about me and who love me. I started thinking about the good relationship I have with my mom, sisters and the wonderful boyfriend I had in my life. It's easy to let the bad get you down, but it takes a strong will to realize the good in life.
