i have a flowmaster muffler and was wondering if exhaust tips make any difference in sound.

Exhaust tips can change the sound depending on the shape, think of your exhaust like a musical horn....will changing the end of it effect the sound? of course it will

Exhaust tips are mainly for styling/looks...by installing exhaust tips the change in the exhaust note will be minimal if not none at all.

It is most likely just for looks, but some do change the sound. If it is stainless steel or a chrome tip, it is just for appearance.
