just curious to know which way you fly into Melbourne, is it through the middle of Austalia, along the bottom or down the sides, going in six weeks and just interested to know what we'll fly over on our way in, thanks.

G'day,

Depending on the weather you may see:
1. Jakarta. Definitely Java island, the most populated island in Indonesia
2. Broome in Western Australia
3. Maybe Ayers Rock as well
4. The Grampians in Victoria.

Again.. it depends on the weather, and what time of they day you are flying.

Have a safe trip and welcome to Melbourne :)

Kind of diagonally through the middle. Grab a map, and it's pretty much a straight line between the two cities. Unlike flying from, say, London to Tokyo where you're flight path will 'bend' towards the north pole, this is not the case so much here as you're starting at the equator.

You won't see much, though, if you're flight gets in early morning! (common for flights from the UK/Continental Europe)

You cross the Australian coast at Derby in northwest Western Australia then track south of Alice Springs towards Adelaide . You would turn left at Tailem Bend southeast of Adelaide joining the main Adelaide/Melbourne flight path.
