The *most* fertile time of the month is around ovulation, and the least fertile time is on cycle day 1 (the first day of menstruation). See link.

Keep in mind that, unless you are VERY aware of your ovulation (meaning you take daily basal temperatures, you monitor your cervical mucus, and you use ovulation predictor kits), that avoiding pregnancy by timing intercourse is a really sketchy contraceptive.

Unless you know exactly when you ovulate it's hard to tell. Some women ovulate right after their period and some ovulate in the middle of their cycle, and some at the end. There is a 6 day window that you can become pregnang because sperm can live in the body for up to 5 days, but the egg can only live for 24-48 hours.

The best way is to use a condom or a form of birth control if you are wanting to prevent pregnancy. If this isn't something you want, then try www.fertilityfriend.com and chart your temp every morning, cervical mucus, and cervical position.

Or just head to the the Health Department and get some free condoms or birth control. Good Luck.

You can get pregnant, in theory anyway, any time of the month.
Theoretically, right before your period or right after are the least fertile times. Better to take steps to avoid pregnancy--IE Birth Control.

ah those darn catholics and their rhythm methods.....this is why they produced such large families!! don't rely on it!!! practice safe sex if in non-monogomous relatinship or go on birth control if you don't want an unplanned pregancy. the rhythm method is unreliable, as any good textbook will tell you.....
