I guess some people say it when they think they love someone else. I think they don't really understand what they feel and are very confused. Some people don't even know what love means. Seriously, ask that question on here and see how many different answers you get. Some people think that love has one meaning, like there is only one way to love someone. So when someone says i love you, they could mean it in a way different then you would think they mean it. Confusing isn't it. Listen to understand love is a very difficult task some say it is the most difficult task a human has to do in their life, second would be finding a true understanding of themselves, but you can't achieve one without the other i think. So everyone must understand the meaning of love and when two people meaning of love exist with another then i believe they were meant to be together!

The words "I love you" have changed in meaning, through their over use they have become to many people either a way to get what they want or to say I really like you. When someone says "I love you" without any of the add-ons that change its context it usually is perceived as profound feelings, that unfortunately doesn't seem to be the case anymore.
It has become something our society seems to force onto people to say, its a way of affirming that your in a relationship though it is more than just the physical relationship it is emotion that most don't feel as often as they use those words. A more proper word choice would probably be "I lust you" but that just sounds wrong doesn't it.

you don't give much detail. Perhaps to get what they want. Maybe "love" doesn't mean the same thing to them as it does to you. Some people "love" candy. Other times people think they "love", only to find out it was lust, or they were caught up in the moment.

I can't stand when people do that. It really takes away from when they actually mean it when the say it. Blah. I really hate it when people tell all their friends they love them when it is just not at all true. Vomit.

Because it is part of the communication.
Do you realize that most of the teachers always say "good work", but they just give you a B or a C. You have learned this lesson from kinder garden.

I think they say it because they really want to mean it - I think they really wish that they had the love.

because, is to make you feel special and loved. Always look at the expression of their face, it would tell you if they really mean it or not.

There are many types of meanings...
"I love you as a friend"
"I love to be around you"
"I love your humor, personality, etc... whatever"
"I love you (just saying it and not meaning it, just to get out of it quicker.)"
"I love you (response, accidentally...)"
"I love you (Marriage-wise)"
"I love you (one night stand wise...)"
It is all how you say it, mean it, or percieve it...
And words dont always mean everything... facial expressions help too...
