If so could it even be considered stealing? Today I walked out of a store with a bag I was planning on buying over my shoulder and forgot to ring it up with the rest of my stuff. The alarms didn't go off when I left the store.

I've walked out with things once or twice, yes, but I'd go back in and say what happened. Unless it was a pen; those I return when I notice right at the door but I don't go back for them... I must admit I was pretty bad at keeping pens when we still wrote checks but for many years we use charge/debit cards here instead of checks, so now I don't ever need a pen at the cash register anymore.
Biggest thing I got without paying for it was about fifteen years ago, we'd gone with a few housemates to a grocery store way across town that had some stuff on sale, normally we went nearer to home of course. We bought *lots* so we didn't keep exact track of what we were buying, and only at home we saw the girl had rang up a turkey of more than 10lbs for the price of 1 lb. :) If it'd been the corner store I probably would've said something the next time I got there but I didn't drive all the way across town, we had a good and very cheap meal of it. It was their mistake mostly though, we just didn't notice the difference.

Nice question... Umm yes would be the answer. Can't remember what it was. Just a few days ago a friend of mine and I were at a store. Well she draped two shirts over her arm and then picked up her purse in the same arm as to free up the other arm to keep browsing items. We were there a good long time and when we were done we checked out. We got into the car and were driving off and she took her purse off of her arm to set it on the floor when low and behold...there was the two shirts. Yes, there weren't very large. And there was our dilemma...we were already late and didn't have time to return. I made her promise to return them but then I get a gift from her and guess what it was? Yes, the two shirts. No, do I ask her if she took them back and paid for them? Or do I just accept the gift and say 'thank-you' trusting she did the right thing? I'll never know....still enjoying those shirts today. I understand 'Naughty Naughty..' I still don't want to know. Ha!

Yes, I have. When I was I a grocery store demonstrator a couple years ago at age 20, I was placed right by the protein bar isle so I kept eating them intending to pay for them after I was done with my shift, shoving the wrappers in my apron pocket. I left and completely forgot. I also stole bottles of pop this way, completely unintended.
Eventually, I stopped eating things in the store while working because it happened 3 days where I ate things and forgot to pay for them.

I will buy a cold pepsi and drink it while I'm grocery shopping..

think about it by the time I get to the car. I look over my

Yes. I was planning on buying a pair of earrings and they were silver and matched the trolley/buggie and I didn't notice them and they ended up not being ringed... When I was emptying out my stuff into the car I noticed them....and, I admit I didn't go back to ring them up.. .. they were cheap but, thats no excuse.. right??

I have not stole, but I have stolen accidentally and intentionally. I think you answered your own question, though. Of course it's stealing. It wouldn't be if you had returned to the store, explained and paid. This way, it's theft, plain and simple - how would you prove you "forgot" to pay?

Yeah, that happened to me once I was shopping and my mom picked out a pair of shoes and put it in the cart and I had accidentally placed my jacket on top of it. I discover it when I was loading the car and went back and paid for it...I don't need any bad karma!

Yes, and it was SWEET!
It was a radio I use EVERYDAY.
I was trying to decide between radios, and the guy accidentally put them both in the bag. Hey, I don't normally go there so I wasn't going back anytime soon. In fact, I haven't been back in over a year.

ye i did it with a pair of sun glasses, was tryin them on and put them on top of my head, forgot they were there and left the shop, wasnt till an hour later when my mate copped it, so i brought them back and the cashier saw the funny side, all ended well, as long as u brought the stuff back and explained the mishap there usually cool about truthful mistakes
