BECAUSE BASICALLY, THEIR LIVES ARE INTERESTING, MORE INTERESTING THAN NORMAL PEOPLE.

Only airheads are obsessed with these people, I always substitute the word nonentities whenever I hear the word celebrities used to describe some third rate soap actor or actress. Personally I think a good craftsman, ie plumber or bricklayer, carpenter etc is more deserving of an accolade than these grossly overpaid twits.

Because we watch them on tv and in the movies and the characters they play and we want to see if their real lives are anything like their roles or if they are jerks or complete divas because everyone loves fashion they want to be in so they see what the stars are wearing an they set the trends as far as eating...who knows most of the women are so skinny bet they don't eat much. I like to see who is dating who....ha!

And reading the magazine is just fun...I like the pictures ha!

Americas Obsession, Like common those magazines are really stupid.. And they are full of lies, yesterday i picked up one of my moms that was 6 months old It was full of lies... Like Britney Spears - Her baby daughter, name details inside....
And then it talked about Lindsay Lohans secret baby,,,
I think after people see there movie or listen to there music they get an obsession with them, and I think its stuck down our throat we may not ever reed any of this but we do know that Britney shaved off her hair ... and all the details on Anna Nicole smiths baby issues... Its an obsession

Back in the 'Caveman' days the only people that were 'famous' across tribes were the highest status people such as the best hunters and most powerful rulers. People wanted to be in their good graces (eg. suck up to them) and also to know what they were up to (planning wars, etc).

In our modern day environment any old fool can become famous overnight...and many of us still have the instict to want to know about these 'important' people...even though this knowledge has no real effect on our lives.

It is interesting, you see. Celebrities make us happy because they entertain well. What is wrong with you wanting to know more about a person you like/admire?

Because they are role models, they set the standard whether it's fashion, what they eat, etc. And we like to take them down a few pegs when they mess up.

Probably because it makes people feel better about themselves to see that people who have far more money and are far better looking are just as screwed up and have the same problems they do.

Sadly, people base their happiness on how much they can be like a certain celebrity.
