I have A LOT of guppies, like about 50-70, in a 20 gallon tank and I don't know to get rid of them! They just keep breeding and none of them are sick or dying. That's a good thing but it doesn't solve the overpopulation in my tank. Could someone give me the link to a good fish store near 77356 that I can trust giving my fish and they can find good homes for them?

There is a small pond in my neighbor's yard... But its really deep and there are huge catfish, perch, and other fish that would love to eat them... O.O But do you really think they would be ok with the change in water quality?

I don't really want to seperate them because I like Breeding guppies. I just wanted to find a website or store that would take my fish so I had room for the ones I want to keep. So if anyone knows a website besides craig'slist please let me know.

Greetings,

If they’re Fancy Guppies, and you don’t mind shipping them at our cost, my daughter and I would love to have them. I recently returned home from a year in Iraq and I promised her she could start any kind of a breeding project she wanted to and she has chosen Fancy Guppies. We have the tank all set up and a few guppies already, but I lost everything when I went to the war and am not back on my feet financially yet so we’re kind of slow starting. We would VERY much appreciate them. If you don’t know how to ship them, I can help you with that. Please let us know.

Thanks

Sorry - but no fish store is going to take them and find good homes. Most will not even take them - the ones that do will feed them to larger fish.

My first suggestion is to do better research on fish before you purchase them. This is a mistake a lot of people make. They buy pretty guppies.. the guppies have babies.. they like to see the baby fish (who doesn't?) - but then it gets out of hand.

Your best bet is to place an ad on craigslist.org (find your city) and make an add for free guppies to good homes. You may possibly find homes for some.

More then likely - you won't.

Also it is pretty easy to sex a guppy - so seperate them! This will make the babies stop - eventually.

(EDIT If you put them in the pond.. they would prob be food & also since it's so easy to breed guppies fish stores aren't interested. And not to be rude, but stop breeding guppies until you have found a way to get rid of the ones you do not want. This could be easy if you didn't mind they would be eaten,. but finding a way that will provide good homes for them all is going to be hard. Let me know if you find a way that exists.)

you may get a bigger tank with a fish which will eat your extras. or you could provide them to faculties or acquaintances. Even daycares could take them. i do no longer anticipate any thumbs up, yet in the wild, some could be eaten. yet do no longer launch any into the wild. i'm extremely thinking of commencing an out of doors pond for my guppies and protecting it heated in the iciness. yet another theory.
