I've done some talent shows before, but I haven't done one in a while, and I want to sing something New! not old or anything, And Id rather have a country song more than anything.

At the risk of getting slammed for my suggestion I'm recommending the Dixie Chicks "Silent House" and including lyrics.
Silent House
These walls have eyes
Rows of photographs
And faces like mine
Who do we become
Without knowing where
We started from
It's true I'm missing you
As I stand alone in your room
Everyday that will pass you by
Every name that you won't recall
Everything that you made by hand
Everything that you know by heart
And I will try to connect
All the pieces you left
I will carry it on
And let you forget
And I'll remember the years
When your mind was clear
How the laughter and life
Filled up this silent house
One room
Two single beds
In the closet hangs
Your favorite dress
The books that you read
Are in scattered piles
Of paper shreds
Everything that you made by hand
Everything that you know by heart
And I will try to connect
All the pieces you left
I will carry it on
And let you forget
And I'll remember the years
When your mind was clear
How the laughter and life
Filled up this silent house
Silent house
In the garden off the living room
A chill fills the air
And the lilies bloom
And I will try to connect
All the pieces you left
I will carry it on
And let you forget
And I'll remember the years
When your mind was clear
How the laughter and life
Filled up this
And I will try to connect
All the pieces you left
I will carry it on
And let you forget
And I'll remember the years
When your mind was clear
How the laughter and life
Filled up this silent house
Silent house
It is a beautiful song.

Martina McBride's "Anyway" is an awesome song. Are you doing this from a Karaoke CDG disc? For a Guy, "Blake Shelton's "Austin" is very good, as is "Paint Me A Birmingham". for a girl, "Red High Heels" or "Before He Cheats" are really good crowd pleasers.

You're singing to a younger (for me) peer group, so you ought to hit them with a great older standard. If you've got the pipes, go for Black Velvet. Even if they don't have any reality with Elvis, the song itself is strong, and has lots of room for personal interpretation. If the judges are older, they'll love that you picked it.

try doing a remix of the star spangled banner chances are that you will be getting old judges. Find a person who can play guitar and they can soup up the song for you it will sound awesome. I did the exact same idea but not the same song and it worked for me.

humm... i think that you should sing...something that people wouldnt sepect you to sing. like if you listen to kelly clarkson go for something by fly leaf. or if you listen to hiphop music go for pop or 80's rock lol.
