The bright planet you see in the early evening sky is Venus. Last night it was just above the thin crescent of the moon, tonight the moon is a little higher than Venus.

On the evening of February 19th around 6pm, the thin crescent Moon will be 1° above Venus. It's in Aquarius, magnitude of -3.9. Is a brilliant object in the evening sky around sunset, and will remain so right through into the summer. It is in the south west at the start of the month, setting around 7pm, getting higher in the sky as the month progresses, setting around 8:30pm by the end of February.
