If you are breastfeeding and trying to use the baby wise method try getting the baby to eat for aleast a half an hour. My daughter couldn't do that and it was twenty minutes...about 10 on each side. If you are having a sleepy baby problem try the following:
1) rub the cheek
2) naked baby or just a oneise (make them uncomfortable kinda)
3) talking to them
4) walking around
5) burping let the baby eat for a few then burp over the back then go back to eatting
check with your insurance provider and see if they have a lacation consultant you can see...totally helps!

All babies are different, but for my son who was breastfed he would take 45 minutes for a feeding. Go back to sleep for 20 minutes then feed on the other side for about 20-30 more minutes. I'm not sure about bottle feeding though.

My month old baby has fed a total of 45min at each feeding. When I was in the hospital the nurses said that they should be at each breast for at least 15 minutes, but then I had other people in the hospital say just to let them nurse on each breast as long as they want.

Most will feed about fifteen min if breast feed, if bottle then about ten. Some babies fall asleep and need to be kept awake. Some are more hungry, and need longer to eat more food. Let the kid set the rate and time length. Enjoy these times, and just look into thier eyes! Love them, and spend the time as quality time! Good Luck and Enjoy!

are you nursing? my daughter is 17 days old and typically nurses on the first breast for 10 to 13 minutes and the second for 7-9 minutes. my doc told me not to let her nurse more than thirty minutes at a time, but idealy, your milk should be in by now and your goal is 10 minutes at each breast. hope this helps and good luck.

How long a baby eats depends on how much milk is coming out,how large the flow is, and when s/he ate last.
When my son was that age, he ate every two hours for an hour long. And my milk literally flowed like an open faucet.
