Was it unpatriotic for a German at the time to be against Hitler, their leader? That was how German right scared people at the time so Hitler could have his way and this is how our right scare the people now. It was Hitler who said that it the luck of leaders that people don't think.

On the contrary it is quite patriotic. Remember what Thomas Jefferson (peace to his soul) said: "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."
Let us place this quote in context. An up raising against the federal government had just occurred and he refused to condemn it because he believed it's quite sane for a republic to know some debate and contesting.
I don't believe there can be more of patriot than Jefferson, yet he believed it was right to be openly against the government. So no it's not unpatriotic to criticize the government.

It is definately not!
Look at the definition of patriotism:
"devoted love, support, and defense of one's country; national loyalty".
It states "LOYALTY".
To blindly follow your leader on a quest for whatever reason you may believe Bushs intentions... that is not loyalty. Behaving like lemmings is not loyalty. We are not sheeps. And patriotism is about national love, and loyalty. It's Not about supporting leaders and governments at all costs and on all grounds.
Let me explain this thoroughly... because so many seems to forget this when they start to label people as unpatriotic, traitors and the likes.
YOU LIVE IN A DEMOCRACY. Yes indeed, in the medieval times when we where all peasants, you where not entitled to question your leaders, and doing so would get you hanged or worse. It was necessary that noone questioned authority because most people where uninformed analphabets, which sole role in society was as workhorses and nothing more.
PRESENT DAY... You face a little something called democracy and its your DUTY as a citizen to question your government. To make sure that the system and your leaders are not screwing with you, screwing with the world or anything, that you - the voters - does not want them to screw with.
And furthermore... once your find that you do not apraise what your leaders are doing... you are not only entitled to voice your dismay. You are OBLIGATED to do so.
To label people as unpatriotic because you dont agree with their perception of things and their impact on the world or such... well that is hardly a patriotic gesture. Medieval at best. Stupid and undemocratic at worst. Then ask who is really harming your country ...

The definition of Patriot:
One who loves and supports his country and its leaders.
Its ok to be an American and not support your leaders. It is ok to question the actions of your leaders. It is ok to stand in protest against your leaders. But that does not make you a Patriot. A Patriot in all reality may not be a good thing, a Patriot holds blind allegiance for his country, that may not be a good thing. Maybe you don't want to be a Patriot.
Jeronimo: Jefferson was stating that true liberty cannot exist with Patriots and Tyrants. That we must destroy Patriots and Tyrants to feed liberty. He was not saying dissent = patriotism.

Supporting Bush is unpatriotic.
Patriotic is more of an attachment to the core values of America. Than the passing fancies of a fanatical president.
When Bush is in his grave school children will be shocked by his legacy. He will never be remembered like Lincoln or Washington.

No, it is not unpatriotic to question the motives for going to war when everything we went to war about turned out to be lies.
