Outside of the womb they streach out a lot more. Also they will never grow as fast in thier life as they do in the first three months. If they grew at the rate they do now for their life they would be bigger than a blue whale by age 12. Dont flip. its normal for fast growth in spurts. Get ready for the next one!

I guess it could be possible--think of how she was curled up so tight in you for 9 months. As the bones and muscles relax and stretch out it could add some length. Also, my doctor says that the length is the most inconsistent thing on a baby. Many nurses use different techniques to measure. Do not worry. If she is healthy that's all that matters--the length will shake out in the end.
Take care of that little precious bundle!!

Keep in mind that stretching out a screaming newborn while doing APGAR scores and cleaning them up is hard to do. There's a very good chance she was mis -measured at birth OR at her checkup. Until they get older it's really part guess, part measurement. Yes they do go through growth spurts that you wouldn't think is possible also.

When a baby is measured after birth it is always an estimate because you do not want to stretch the baby to much after birth , this is not so good for the hips and back. So the first measurement is always a rough one and not someones mistake.

The nurse may have very well mis-measured but it's also possible that she grew that much.
My son is only 2 months and he's already twice his birth weight, and is nearly 30" long.
And he was born 20.00" long, and over 8 pounds!
Some babies just grow differnetly than others, that's all.

*lol* The intern at my family doctor mismeasured my baby at 1 week. She measured from the tip of the head to the tip of the outstretched toes, you're only supposed to go to the heels.
You could always measure yourself. Place the babies head against the wall while lying on the floor, and stretch her out, place a piece of tape where her heel is, and then pick her up and then measure.

It's silly, but if it has happened already, then yes! Growing 2 1/2 inches is "correct". She is a quick grower! I know it seems too soon, but most likely she'll experience a few patches of growth spurts during prime growth stages, but this does not mean she's "going to be a tall one!" That is a myth.

Most likely mismeasured. Length is one that is most likely to get goofed. Babies really don't stretch all that well so could be off a tad at both measurements. Plus she may have moved while they stretched her during the measurement-that could add some length. (My son shrunk at his 2 week checkup, he didn't really but the measurements said he did)

It depends on how she was measured. If they measured her lying down at the hospital and at the doctor's office, it's probably accurate. I don't remember how much height my daughter gained in her first month, but I do remember that she gained almost 3 pounds that first month, so I guess it's possible. Congrats on the new baby!

For as quickly as in the three a million/2 years of being in this internet site, somebody gets it, and that's you. Congrats! Now, all you may desire to do is stumble on a great breeder. once you try this, the ears will already be *coach* cropped. Please Google: DPCA and seem on the breeder referrals on your section. once you opt for for a breeder, they're going to coach you the thank you to *positioned up* the ears properly. in case you don't get a cropped puppy, yet choose for it cropped, bypass back to that breeder referral checklist and contact somebody out of your section to refer you to a Vet that does a superb pastime. remember, as quickly as the cropping is accomplished, it won't be in a position to be glued back on if this is too short or no longer of your liking. Ears are cropped between 8-12 weeks, stitches pop out in 10 days, and then the postings start up. remember, you will possibly desire to shop up with the postings or the ears won't stand properly. this might take months. you're off to a solid start up. I basically have one extra advice for you....in case you plan on getting a GSD, wait till the Dobe has some training below this is belt. do no longer attempt to do 2 doggies at as quickly as. additionally, in case you get a male Dobe, get a woman GSD.
