I watched the movie called "THE CORE" and a teacher gave me an essay to write about this topic, could the outer core of the Earth's interior reallystop spinning? Explain with supporting facts if this could realistically happen.

As long as there's a temperature gradient between the bottom and the top of the outer core, it will continue to spin. The temperature gradient is the result of two things; the heat trapped inside the Earth since it condensed, and radioactive decay of elements like uranium and thorium. The bottom of the liquid outer core is warmer than the top, so convection currents carry heat upwards. The Earth's rotation causes this movement to be deflected sideways, perpendicular to the Earth's axis. So the outer core will continue to spin until the Sun becomes a red giant and the Earth is vapourised, about a billion years from now.

It can't happen. The entire movie was totally devoid of scientific fact.

I'm not going to write an essay for you, although the attempt was cute, but you can find out about it by Googling about "The Core" with "scientific fact" or "science". A lot of the simple reviews of the movie even touched on how outlandish it was.

That movie was complete, ridiculous nonsense! Garbage masquerading as science. The previous 2 answers are correct (except, I'd give the Earth another 5 billion years give or take)

no, cause its solar system earth=air solar system=no air so then the air pushes against the non-air it spins like the earth but if it stops spinning which probably wont happen just but just but if it stops we will be in deep $#!t
