C4, C6, aod (automatic overdrive) and the four speed. The C4 is the cheapest option, but be aware there are many verities, you want one with at least 4 clutches. The C6 is the heavy duty auto, its bulletproof but harder to find. The aod will give the best mileage but are temper mental to get right and expensive. The four speed overdrive were week tranny's, you can also use the t-5. Good luck.

Either a 4wd or 2wd. The stock automatic transmission of either will work behind a 302, 351 or 5.0. Bellhousing is the same. A ford t-5 straight shift will work also. Be sure you have the correct driveshaft, measure ! Didn't mention whether its a long or short bed.

C-6 automatic would be best, a C-4 is likely not strong enough for a pickup.
If you want a standard, there were several used. I had the NP-435, which is great for a 4x4 or a tow vehicle, but the gearing is low if you do much highway driving. A newer 5-speed would work just fine.
