It's the middle of winter, and for some reason I have a huge gnat problem. I've pretty much done all I know how to do to eliminate anything that could possibly be attracting them, including getting rid of all exposed food, I have the trash in an enclosed area, scrubbing the furniture and counters to get rid of coffee stains, etc. Is there anything else that I should be doing? And what is a good way to just get rid of them all? They are even in my family room where the computer is and I never leave food or anything in there. Thanks for any suggestions!

This is a trap I use for fruit flies:

Take a spagetti sauce jar and clean it out
Make a funnel out of an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper
The tip of the funnel should be quite small, only large enogh for the flies to get through. The large part of the funnel shoul fit snuggly in the mouth of the jar.
Place a bit of fruit (banana works best) in the bottom of jar and insert the funnel. You may want to tape the funnel in around the oustide.

It works simply: flies go in to get fruit and are too stupid to get out.
When you have amassed a lot of flies just drowned them in a sink of hot water. Don't leave it for more than a few days as they begin to hatch eggs in there.

Clean the jar and start again.

I think they're probably fruit flies, which look basically the same.
We had them in my house.
We stopped leaving fruit in the kitchen on the counter.
We kept the lid on the kool-aid.
We waited.
They're gone.
We also bought some sticky things that stick to the window and they were supposed to keep the fruit flies there, every bug but the flies stuck there.

Build a little Gnat Hooters restaurant and put it away from the food. They'll go there for the seafood, and die when they admit why they are really there.
Sorry, don't know how to really help, so I thought I'd try to make you laugh.
