We love our diaper champ so far. It is so easy and only has to be changed 1-2 times a week. Not smelly at all, but only been using for 9 weeks with breastfed baby.

Skip the Diaper Champ or the Diaper Genie or any of those gimmicks. Not only do you have to buy the container but then you are required to continue to buy their "special bags." Save your money. Buy a step open garbage can that takes the odour control kitchen garbage bags. This is way cheaper and works just as well. Average Cost for the garbage can $10.00 and average cost for 100 kitchen bags is $2.00. Plus the garbage can holds way more diapers before you have to empty it which makes the bags last longer than the Champ ones that hold about 20 diapers (2-3days worth) before you have to empty them.

I think that all the fancy diaper pails out there are a huge waste of money. I bought a box of 100 diaper disposal bags for $1. (actually I bought 5 boxes of them) at Dollar Tree. The wet diapers I just ball up and throw in the trash can, the poopy ones go in a disposal bag in the trash can. I use a small bedroom garbage can with a wal-mart (or similar) bag in it. and I take it out the garbarge every day or 2. I just grab the wal-mart bag out on my way to the car or when I am going to get the mail. It works just fine, the room smells okay, and the disposal bags only cost a penny.

I don't know about the diaper champ, but I had a playschool version of the diaper pail. It was great, really inexpensive and it takes regular garbage bags that you can buy--not the expensive diaper genie ones that are specific to the pail. It was nice to not have to toss them into the regular trash, it helped keep the odor at bay.

I never got one. We just hang a plastic grocery bag on the door knob of the closet, and the used diapers go in there. The plastic bag gets taken out to the garbage can at the end of the day or right after a poopy diaper. Works great, and I didn't have to buy anything! :o)

i have worked in many preschools and do home daycare and have 2 kids at home i do not feel in any way this is a worth wild investment we have had them at the preschools i work at because we need to have a close container to keep soiled diapers in so children can not get them and they claim it stops the smell but over time it stilled smelled even though it was taken out everyday we tried baking powder bleach and stick ups and it stilled smelled so in my own daycare and in several others i have worked at that have figured this out we just throw them right out after changing a dirty diaper i place them in a store shopping bag and then toss in the garbage straight out side no mess no refills needed no smelly diaper pail its cheap and easy! good luck and congrats on the new little one!

Its not necessarily a must have, but I have one and its convient when I can't run and take the diaper out to the bin. If you throw a smelly diaper into a regular trashcan, trust me you will have to take it out right away because it will stink up a room quickly.
