I did hear this! And it deserves a big HUZZAH!
On the other hand...being single...I feel somewhat left out.

lots of the scriptures in this subject count are in Leviticus - written via what many scholars call "Deuteronomist clergymen" - very inquisitive bearing directly to the wellness of the Hebrew community. Written around the 6th c. BCE, in the process the expulsion of the Judahites to Babylonia and the destruction of the 1st temple, those clergymen have been worried bearing directly to the continuity and vast distinction of the Judahites around Babylonia - circumcision replaced right into a substantial marker of massive distinction/separation. yet another significant act in protecting a community is duplicate. If each and every of the lads and ladies human beings copulated to conceive, the inhabitants of the community would not stagnate. for this reason, unions have been limited to be between a guy and woman. considering that lots of people who at present stick to those writings see the call of "marriage" to be desirable purely between a woman and male, they might view "civil unions" as ideal - considering which you're area of a Christian denomination, the risk of a decreased Christian inhabitants isn't a difficulty.

Good for New Jersey - it's about time. Same sex marriage has been legal in our province for a while now, and the world - you'll notice - has not come to an end.

Progress continues, despite attempts by backward, stunted folks trying to prevent it.
Same ones who persecuted Galileo, Copernicus.
