In a couple of months, I'll be moving from Los Angeles to Seattle. One of my biggest gripes about L.A. is the insane amount of traffic, and basically being unable to go anywhere between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm.

Am I going to run into the same problem in Seattle?

Seattle traffic, like LA traffic requires planning. I live downtown, in the middle of the traffic madness. I work in Everett, to the north. This way I am going against the flow of traffic most of the time. Know when to avoid the hot spots and how to get around them when you can. I HATED LA traffic! Seattle traffic is quite tolerable, and as a California driver you'll feel like a shark in a minnow pool. Seattleites are as a rule more relaxed and forgiving.

The traffic sucks here. I've been to LA before and I have to admit that Seattle traffic is a little nicer, but not by much, especially right after a game.

if you look online at the busiest freeways in the US, you will find that Seattle is pretty close to LA. We lived in LA, were thinking of moving to Seattle to get away from traffic and pollution, went to Seattle to visit and saw all the traffic and decided not to move. I still don't think it's as bad as LA, but it's a hassle. know what you're getting into before you back up.
the rain may eventually get you down, too, but it is beautiful and the people are lovely.
good luck!

In short, yes. However I have been to LA, and Seattle traffic is not as bad. Once familiar with the Seattle traffic patterns, you will be able to navigate the area with ease by using back roads, and traffic flow maps to your advantage. From sheer trial and error (don't take the freeway if it looks bad!) I have managed to take my travel time down 15-20 minutes each way.

Seattle USED to not have bad traffic. But then a bunch of people from California moved here to get away from LA. Then they created all the same problems. Screw you California, at least you Governor is a joke.

Seattle traffic is bad, but I would live near Seattle again, but never in L.A. again. I have lived both places and L.A. is just never-ending freeway and traffic no matter where you go.

ALL large cities are traffic nightmares. LA traffic just lasts longer. The worst I've seen is Atlanta, with Houston a close second. Los Angeles at least has great lane markers and the signage is very good.

I've lived here for a year and traffic can be anywhere from okay to downright terrible. The constant rain and darkness in the winter make it that much more miserable. The summer is pretty nice though. I was LA for one summer and it was about the same to me. So have fun getting stuck in the rainy mess!
