Evil

For other uses, see Evil (disambiguation).
In religion and ethics, Evil refers to the morally objectionable aspects of the behaviour and reasoning of human beings — those which are deliberately void of conscience, and show a wanton penchant for destruction. Evil is sometimes defined as the absence of a good which could and should be present; the absence of which is a void in what should be. In most cultures, the word is used to describe acts, thoughts, and ideas which are thought to (either directly or causally) bring about affliction and death — the opposite of goodness, which itself refers to aspects which are life-affirming, peaceful, and constructive.
Perhaps evil is best represented in the human situation in the form of unprovoked hatred against and coupled with an aggressive impulse to cause harm to another person or group. Such hatred can be aroused from within the individual or group through jealousy, wrong teachings or due to unexplained extra-personal forces.

It's the absence of every good thing or deed. The new book "Another Thought" by OC Tross defines evil in its true context.

Well to be honest, i dont believe there is good or evil based on the connotations we carry with them today. Good and evil are simply concepts created by humans in order to give more social power to individuals. Because good and evil are highly subjective concepts its impossible to put a "true to life" definition to them. The reason why they are highly subjective is because good and evil deal with morals and everyone has different types of morals none of which can really be classified as right or wrong even though our self serving biases would rather lead us to believe that and our government would like nothing more for us to believe it as well so that they may be able to label things as good or evil giving them more power to say what is right or wrong. So to answer youre question there really is no real definition to evil but if i had to give it one i would say : in an individuals moral spectrum of events evil is the classification that opposes one's cognitive ability to carry out "positive" actions.

Yes, to me evil is when someone does something with the intent to cause harm for no other reason than to cause harm. Evil is when someone gets a perverse pleasure out of seeing and making other people's lives miserable. Evil knows no boundaries and evil people are only happy when their actions are making other people unhappy. Hope this helps.

Evil is putting yourself ahead of others.
Killed a duck for the fun of it? I would consider that evil; you inflicted pain in order to gain satisfaction.
Killed a duck to feed your family and keep them from starving? Understandable.
Stole/embezzled because you wanted more power over others? Evil; you empower yourself by making others weaker.
Stole/embezzled because you thought you could use the money to save some children in the Congo from working in slave mines with the money? More than understandable... You improve the world.

My definition of evil would be a `sane` person calmly and coldly doing something that is going to cause pain and suffering to another without any concern or remorse. I don't mean paedophiles or all murderers or terrorists because they are like they are either cos They are sick or have a belief in what they are doing(whether we agree with that belief is a different matter)
True evil is someone without compassion or empathy for their fellow humans and the world we live in

To me, evil means the opposite of good. Like, saying mean spirited things to someone, being abusive to your spouse and or kids, others. You get the point. Also, you should read the Holy Bible. There's alot of examples of evil in there........

Intentional neglect of doing what you know is good or right or intentionally doing what you know is wrong and or harmful. And by that definition every freakin human being on the planet is evil.
P.S. l_o_t_b_a I love the contradiction in your answer. The funny part is I don't think you see it.
